Huawei founder Ren’s new memo recently has gone viral on China’s internet. His message offers an honest reading of world’s economic prospects. His bleak outlook of the global economy strikes a chord in the country’s business and technology sectors. He painted a gloomy picture of a world heading into economic recession from 2023-2025. It called for employees to focus on the company’s survival and give up on wishful thinking. He claimed that he is uncertain if Huawei can “break through” this tough period.

Let’s take a look at another giant, Amazon founder Jeff’s new action. Amazon UK announced that Prime membership fees rose from 7.99 pounds per month to 8.99, based on the inflation. The annual fee was increased from £79 to £95. It is the first price increase since 2014. In the second quarter of 2022, Amazon UK Prime membership decreased by 590,000. Why? Higher membership fees？Not Really! Consumers reduce unnecessary spending in the face of an uncertain economy.
